FROM THE EYES TO THE HEART: A COSMETIC PATHWAY
The eye is a reconnaissance organ that allows us to monitor our surrounding environment very quickly and communicate with other human beings. As it is always at work, the eye is forced to continuously adapt to environmental changes (light, colour, smoke, dust) and physical changes (from simple myopia to tiredness, insomnia, and emotional stress). To help defend our eyes nature has gifted us with physical defence mechanisms: eye brows, eye lashes and tears as well as a dense vascular and muscular system, all controlled by nerves. But over the years these numerous stimulus have an effect on the skin around the eyes, which is extremely thin (0,5mm compared to 1,6mm of the skin on our hands), allows facial contractions to form tiny expression wrinkles, the blood and lymphatic circulation to slow and form blue shadows and swelling (bags), which in turn causes the appearance of pockets of fat and the relaxation of the eye lids. To intervene cosmetically requires the creation of highly specialised products, with maximum levels of safety and tolerability: based on delicate excipients with a suitable pH for the eyes, free from irritating ingredients, made with carefully chosen preservatives and active substances that are capable of improving the micro-circulation, protect the veins, increase skin elasticity and prevent phenomenon of inflammation. Thanks to research in phytotherapy we now have active ingredients with a proved efficacy such as escin, a triterpenic saponin from horse chestnut which is able to protect the capillaries and favour blood circulation, stimulate the skins tone and reduce edemas and swelling. The ematic component of “bags under the eyes” is reduced by the veinotonic and regenerating of escin to which it is possible to associate pigments with an optic effect (soft focus) with an immediately visible illuminating and age defying effect.
